Consignment Shopping

Did a bit of shopping at a local church baby sale. I only wish the prices were lower. They had lots of cute clothes. Kelly said that Eleanor will be better dressed than she is. Little girl's clothes are so hard to resist!

A Great Visit

I just got back Monday from a wonderful very long weekend with Kelly and Clint. It couldn't have been any nicer. They both treated me like I was on vacation. What a treat for me. One morning I even slept late and they woke me with breakfast ready, including my favorite scrapple!!

I had plenty of time with Kelly since she took off work Thursday and Friday and got to go along to her appointment with the midwife and saw the birth center where we'll be meeting little (or not-so-little) Eleanor. It was a really nice place and I felt very comfortable there. Afterwards we went to Dexter's in Lake Mary and had a great lunch, splitting a luscious lamb burger with feta (I know it's a supposed no-no for pregnant women ...) and smoked chicken salad. Yummy, and good high protein for baby too. Well, since we had that restaurant.com coupon so we decided to get some desserts -- always my favorite part of the meal. We split two!! No wonder my jeans barely fit now that I'm at home.

That wasn't the end of our eating or our fun. We had lots of good meals. I totally enjoyed eating out on the patio at The Willow Tree in Sanford. It was so hard to choose from their extensive menu but finally I decided on a reuben made with red cabbage. It was delicious. Couldn't pass up the bread pudding there either. At least we all split one dessert that time.

Kelly's baby shower was Saturday night at Betty's house and it was a fun night. It was great to meet Kelly's friends -- a really nice group of people. Got to see baby Enzo close up. He's so cute! Clint and I won two out of the three games. I was closest in guesses to the size of Kelly's belly, measured by a ribbon, and Clint won the "What's in the diaper?" game. We took home two bottles of wine!
.

There were more food adventures, including the best soft pretzels ever at The Mellow Mushroom in Winter Park, but we also had a great time at home. After the shower we tried clothes on a pretty-close-to-lifesize doll and Clint showed us his swaddling skills. One day Eleanor was just jumping around all day and I "encouraged" Kelly to get down on all fours when that happened so she'll be in just the perfect position for birth. I can't wait!!! I think we're all so anxious to meet her! And, it won't be long.

THANK YOU KELLY AND CLINT for a wonderful week!!

Happy 1st Year Anniversary

I can't believe it's only been a year since Kelly and Clint got married. What a year! In August they found out Kelly was pregnant, in the fall they bought our house and right before Thanksgiving they learned that little one inside was a girl -- Eleanor!

Last year they spent the week honeymooning in Asheville and this year they're probably thoroughly enjoying their last weekend away together in Savannah before little Eleanor is born.

I wish them lots of love and the best, most exciting year yet!!

That's My Girl!

Thursday, the 5th, Kelly went to her midwife's appointment (luckily Clint was with her) and all was well. Her uterus measured 31 weeks, Eleanor's heart tones were strong and her blood pressure was normal. Afterwards she had to go to the hospital for the RHig shot, because her blood type is RH negative. Like her mother, Kelly is not fond of the hospital and it was frustrating to be there, as it usually is. They took her blood pressure and it was elevated. She told them she had just had it taken and it was normal. They went on about preeclampsia, etc. and she told them it was just "white coat hypertension," which obviously they'd never heard of. Since they were so worried and were threatening to "triage" her, Kelly told them to give her a few minutes and she would bring it down. Within a few minutes, after two more tries, she brought it down to its normally low number (like 117/60). I think Kelly then said, "I told you so," and if she didn't say it, she should have. With that kind of control over her body I have total faith that she is going to be awesome during labor!!

Flannel Quilt Beginnings

This is the little quilt I've been working on for Eleanor this past week. I liked the colors in the rag lap pad I made and tried to find fabrics that would give the same type of look. Right now I'd say this is about 15"x20". Not sure if I want to keep it all patchwork or put strips down the side.

Kelly also asked yesterday if I'd start making some little flannel baby wipes with fabric scraps so I want to get started on that later today. It's good to have a lot of those when you use cloth diapers (and it's a great way to save money too!). Grandma had made Kelly a bunch of really cute and soft cotton knitted baby wipes for Christmas so she should have a nice variety and she can see which work best for her.
